Rush Week

Jared has joined many clubs and optometry organizations. One of the many is a social fraternity, Omega Delta. During "rush week" Jared had to create something to wear displaying the Omega Delta letters. As you can see, Jared used his creative thinking and constructed a belt buckle! Notice to the left of the picture Elsie is admiring Jared's bling!

Moving Day #7

Yes, #7. Jared and I have moved to 7 different dwellings since being married. This does include a couple extended stays at the parental's houses. This move took place over the weekend. We moved from "Camden" to "Las Palmas", just down the street. Adam Hemmen was a huge help! He brought his forearm forklifts...thanks Adam! Friday night as we all relaxed with a drink, we were happy with our progress. Every large item had been safely relocated. Sunday morning however, Jared and I were unpleasently surprised at how many random loose items we still needed to move. We worked hard and had everything (including the cleaning) done by 3:00pm. Exhausted we enjoyed a nice dinner provided by some of our new friends! We ate a wonderful dinner and played a fun game. When we got home we finished unpacking.

It was a hot day and since we were opening the door frequently we turned the air off. Elsie was not the biggest fan of this decision! She cooled off with a wet cloth.

Reward! Stolen Bike!

Well it happened...Jared's bike was stolen. Jared has been riding every day to a from school. We had been very good about making sure the bike was stored in the apartment. He (Jared) was even wheel it in during his 50 minute lunch break. The thief cut right through the wire cable. This happens the day before we move into our new apartment, a gated community!

Dog Days

We went to a new dog beach with Adam. He and Elsie had fun playing ball. This beach has an inlet, so the water is still and shallow. Elsie seemed to enjoy the water!

Visitors!!!!

Baker came in town Saturday and stayed until wednesday. We (jared, Adam, and I) picked Baker up at LAX and headed to dinner at Ketchup. We payed big bucks for smaller versions of american classics; hot dogs, mini burgers, fries, and PBR. We then went to a show at the Groundling's comedy club. Sunday we enjoyed a day at Huntington beach. The guys spent a lot of time on the water getting knocked around by the waves. We also played Bocce ball...Jar and I lost. Monday we took it easy and went to an Angel's game. Tuesday (Baker's b-day), Jared and Baker went to six flags. Later that night we went out for birthday drinks! Happy 28th old man!!!! We then took Baker to the airport Wednesday morning.

Birthday Boy!

A few hours after Jeremy left Amy and Paul came into town. On Thursday we hit the outlet malls (Jared was the only successful shopper). We then headed to L.A. where we saw Rodeo Dr. and many other things recognized as "L.A.". We passed by the Kodak Theater, Grauman's Chinese Theater, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Hollywood sign. We had tickets to The Jimmy Kimmel show, so we stood in line for about an hour before realized we weren't getting in! Little did we know tickets aren't an absolute...you need to put in your fair share in the line too. After not getting in we walked around the kodak theater and attached mall. We then ate at Bella on the strip.

Friday we started out for Universal Studios but hit a problem. The discounted tickets we planned on purchasing through the student union were sold out. Lucky for us...Paul has a Coscto membership. We headed out, purchased the tickets, and ate at In and Out Burger. Universal was a lot of fun!

Saturday we hung out at the pool and did a little shopping. Sunday we drove to Huntington Beach. From there and with the generous donation (of bikes) from Adam the four of us rode to Newport Beach. We rode along the boardwalk. It was fun, but one look away from the sidewalk could cause a collision! There were a ton of bikers and walkers! The ride was long but worth it! Once in Newport we stopped for lunch and a drink at Sharkies...great food! We rode back to Huntington were we relaxed and soaked up the rays. We ended our day with some yogurt from Yogurtland.

Farmers Market

Jared and I went to a farmer's market/concert/vendors deal in downtown Fullerton on Thursday. They have these every Thursday from April to Nov. Unfortunately Jared got a job at school every Thursday night starting in september, so he won't be able to enjoy it every week. I found a flower vendor who sold cool bouquets for only 3 bucks a pop.
