100th post! .....fun happenings

In addition to enjoying the sun and warm weather I have done a few other fun things in the past weeks. A few of the girls went on a quilt hop...we went to 8 different fabric shops and received a sample of fabric, a pattern, and a chance to enter a grand prize drawing! It was a lot of fun!

My cousin Emily and her boyfriend stopped in for a visit while on a drive down the coast from Portland, Oregon. We spent the day at the Huntington Beach and may have indulged in a little too much sun! It was really good to see you two!

Jared and I also had a bowling night out with several other married couples who attend SCCO. It's sad, but I think my baby bump kept my arm from swinging to the side, allowing me to bowl much better than normal...even so...I still had the lowest score! Jared as always did well scoring the highest in our group.

With Jared busy at school we have had to find alternative ways to hang out and "get caught up"....so we have enjoyed several park outings where we exercise as a family(really it is me on a bike talking and trying hard to keep up with a running Jared and Elsie). To tire themselves out even more, Jared and Elsie run laps up and down this hill!

Cute Toes.

I cannot wait to put some cute toes in these adorable socks! Our friends Melissa and Brian are already showering baby awesome with gifts...how cute are those socks?! Thank you guys...we (including baby) love them!

Baby update:
I am 26 weeks along and baby boy is doing well. He is still moving up a storm....not sure if he ever rests! We had our latest doctors appointment today. "Awesome" is measuring right at 26 weeks and his heart rate is 150 bpm. I feel good expect for being tired...all....of....the...time. I haven't been sleeping well because my hips hurt when I sleep and any little noise (including Jared's breathing) wakes me up...I know...boohoo. I understand what people mean when they say "pregnancy starts to prepare you for the baby".

no whales

A couple of weeks ago Jared and I went whale watching....without the whales. It was a very foggy day, so sighting a whale was not possible. We did see sea lions and dolphins! The dolphins would swim next to the boat and were in large pods. Although we didn't see any whales, we had a good time and it was nice to pull Jared away from school for a while.

Bizarre

We went with a bunch of Jared's classmates to Medieval Times. We had dinner, ate with our hands (not my thing), and watched a medieval story unfold. Bizarre.

baby brain

Nothing new here...just been crafting up a storm! Jared was a sport and helped me pick out fabrics for the crib bumper...yes, I'm making it. I know the bumper will turn out cute, but I am still not sure about the colors! If you know me, you know how indecisive I am (Lord help us with naming our little guy). I know I like the blue, green, brown color scheme, but there are sooooo many shades of these colors. I worry our choice is too bright...I like it when I look at the fabrics, but then I see the same colors more neutral and really like those. I don't feel like I should settle because I have to live with these colors for a while. The colors are important to me because we are trying to decorate an all white boring apartment room....ahhhh! This is also the problem I am having with the stroller. If you remember from a previous post we have already purchased a stroller. I feel this stroller is larger than I want, but it's nice and it holds a car seat. I am also looking at a nice, sturdy, (hate to use this word) umbrella stroller. The umbrella stroller has a lot, but doesn't hold a car seat....so is it really a big pain to remove a sleeping baby from a car seat and place them in a stroller....do I NEED the stroller that holds the car seat?....ahhhhhh. Thanks for letting me vent.

Back to the fun stuff. Now that my nephew's 1st birthday gifts have been made and sent I am going to be focusing on making my little guy some things (too many to list). Here are a few pics of the things I made Solomon. 1. Magnetic cloth alphabet found here. 2. Stenciled shirts and bag holding alphabet found here 3. Me! 23 weeks! Baby is moving ALL the time, and seems to be doing well.

The Parentals

During Jared's spring break my parents came out for a visit! We had decent weather...not normal California nice, but much warmer and sunnier than Kansas! While they were here, we did a few new things they hadn't done yet, and a few things...like baby registering, they could have done without!

We went to "The Bruery" with some of Jared's friends

The tide pools at Crystal Cove

After looking for creatures at the tide pools we had lunch at a restaurant that overlooked the ocean. The view was beautiful!

Jared used is new BIO skills on my mom. He dilated her and looked at her retina. Due to a teaching mirror on his BIO head set my dad and I were also able to see the things Jared was talking about!

On one of the days we went to Disneyland and Disneyland Adventure!

My mom and I didn't ride some of the rides (me: pregnant, Mom: chicken) so we waited while Jared and Dad rode them!

This is my mom after riding the Indiana Jones ride! I talked her into riding it because it is one of my favorite rides. She was not amused! She kept her eyes closed through most of it!

We had a great time and I was sad to see them leave. I wish they could have stayed until the baby was born!
