school and E

*September 24th Elliot got his 1st cold. So sad. He is congested and coughing. I siphon snot from him hourly!

*12 stations is over! Almost. We have heard about 12 stations for forever. 12 stations is a clinical exam that tests the students skills of everything they have learned thus far.  They have to get a 75% to pass a station and are only allowed 1 retake. If they don’t pass, then they have to retake the class which holds them back a year.  Well…drum roll….Jared did well!  He passed 11 of the 12 stations! It is common for students to fail at least one, and usually more. Way to go Jared!

*We have picked our 4th year rotation spots!  Exciting, I know! Picks were a semi-complicated process that started this summer.  A computer randomly assigns a number to each member in the class. Jared received 55.  What this number meant was that Jared would be the 55th person in his class of 100 to pick his profile numbers. A profile number is a set of numbers, one for each quarter. When Jared’s turn came he picked: 17, scco, 71, and 31. This meant that for the 1st quarter Jared was pick 17 for a rotation site in the summer, at the school in the fall, pick 71 in the winter, and 31 in the spring.  Here is where we are going (Keep in mind we were limited on the 71 pick (only 7 people picked after him…the  remaining 22  people were pre-assigned to the school)):

Bunny!

3 months!

Elliot is 3 months!  He is changing so much daily and weekly…it’s crazy!  We finally have a sleeping pattern! Yah!!  E has been taking a small morning nap and a longer afternoon one! He has also gone several nights sleeping for 10-11 hours (he does wake up, but puts himself back to sleep)! He is proving to be an early riser (6-7ish), but I’ll tackle that in another month or so :)

Elliot is smiling more and is beginning to laugh.  He is even starting to become ticklish. Unfortunately, with a laugh comes the hiccups.  Elliot is also continuing to work on holding up his head…I think his cheeks may be weighing him down a bit because he looks down a lot :)

Elliot has also started grabbing his toys.  He continues to bat at   them, but you can also see him thinking about what he is looking at and takes time to touch and grab it!

  

Elliot has also started talking a lot.  He loves to carry on a conversation with you.  These are some of his cute talking faces! I love, love, love the raised eyebrows!

 

I LOVE this face!  I don’t know what I did or said to deserve it, but I love the personality!  I also see a little of Jared in this pic :)

Yeah…go, go, go…oh! fumble. Elliot takes his K-State football seriously.

Elliot had his first dip in the pool last weekend.  It took him a few minutes to get used to the temperature and for him to decide he liked it. We may have a swimmer!

Tummy time is NOT one of Elliot’s favorite things. I was however, able to get a few happy shots of him while he played! **side note: I made the quilt he his playing on!  My first (and so far only) quilt ever!

*I love the sigh Elliot makes when he is eating

*I love our conversations (and there are many) with all the oooohhhhs

*I love it when E sticks out his bottom lip when he is upset

*I love the whine he makes when he is tired or really doesn’t feel like going into a full cry….a more drawn out oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh with a furrowed brow….LOVE IT!

*I love the smile and leg kicks I get when I get him up in the morning (and the middle of the night even though I have to ignore them)

*I love those chubby, squishy, kissable cheeks

*I love the look of achievement when he is standing up (yes, I am helping him)

A visit from the grandparents

Elliot got to meet my dad for the first time and was reintroduced to my mom this past week.  Their visit was fun and couldn't have come at a more needed time! We are still fighting with a fussy boy and just last week he took one of the good things we had going, away…going down to bed in the evening was easy….not anymore!

Even with a boy who is moody and a poor nap-taker, we were able to do a lot of activities and managed to get E to smile. He seemed to have a connection with my dad…it only took him looking at E to get him to smile!

During their visit we kept busy, going to the dog beach, into LA where we ate Wurstkuche, and then drove to Venice Beach. We also relaxed at the pool, went to the farmers market, and Jared and I even went on a date!  We had a great time and can’t wait for them to visit again!

Elliot’s swim top was a little snug and showed all his belly rolls…too cute!      

 

My dog can’t swim! :( Jared would take her into the water and while all the other dogs moved gracefully, keeping their paws paddling under the water…Elsie slapped her’s on top and held her head as high as she could!

Elsie wouldn’t go into the deep parts of the water, so when Jared would throw the frisbee too far, he would have to go in after it!

After being at home with their other grandchild, Marissa, my parents were a little shocked at the size difference (Marissa 10lbs, E probably 14lbs).  They got a workout lifting this chunk of a boy!

Baby Whisperer: So my dad had a way with Elliot.   They bonded in many ways …maybe because they are similar  :)

   Dad would hold Elliot and with his calming ways would put him to sleep.
