15 Seconds of Fame

No fame really. Just a lot of Fun!
I was just on the Ellen Show! No, not in the audience…actually ON the show. Here is how it came about:
I submitted my information to attend the taping of Ellen’s “Mother’s Day” show, where she is infamous for giving the audience (all 1st time pregnant moms) a bunch of cool baby gifts. Did I expect to attend…no. Was I shocked when I received a call from someone who works on the Ellen Show…yes! Sidenote: When I attended a taping with my parents they called to verify we would be able to attend and to tell me how to get our tickets. So, I thought the phone call was about that and was really excited! I was told the taping for the Mather’s Day show was full, but that they wanted to use me in a game with Heidi Klum…Yes…Heidi Klum and Ellen! They asked if I would be available all day Wednesday for the taping…I said YES! Day of Taping: Yesterday I arrived at “the lot” and was taken to wardrobe where we (me and 4 other women in the game) were being fitted with clothes from Heidi Klum’s new maternity line. We were taken to make-up and hair…fun! After we were all ready we did a rehearsal (without Ellen and Heidi of course) on the stage. Once the show started taping I became extremely nervous! We were taken backstage and mic’d, ready to make our entrance. About the Game: There were 5 of us who would be on stage (3 pregnant and 2 not pregnant but wearing belly body suits) and Heidi and Ellen were to guess which of the 5 of us were really pregnant. The time came when we entered the stage…I had to lead!!!!! I had to locate a tiny red dot on the floor and look decent will walking out in 4inch heals…for those who know me…this was extremely difficult! Once out on the stage Heidi and Ellen went down the line of us asking questions and guessing whether we were pregnant or not. When they got to me they asked my name “Sarah”, how many months pregnant? “…(hesitation…I don’t think of my pregnancy in months) 30 weeks”, boy or girl? “boy”. They both guessed I was pregnant because I had a “sparkle” in my eyes! We were then given gift cards for being on the show and the best part….invited back to the Mother’s Day taping!!! After the Show: After changing out of our outfits (which I got to keep!) we were pleasantly surprised with a visit from Heidi!

What an experience and an amazing day! I am still in shock it happened to ME!

AubRee was kind enough to attend the taping with me! Thank you AubRee...you helped calm my nerves!

Baby Showers for Baby Awesome!

What a weekend! I went home this past weekend to attend baby showers being thrown for my sister and myself. It was a fantastic weekend full of family, friends, and fun! To kick my visit off my mom picked me up from the airport and we went straight to a Mexican restaurant for some delicious queso… my eyes were much larger than my stomach! The showers started Saturday with a joint shower for my sister and I . My aunt’s Laurie and Lynn threw this baby shower for us. My aunts and grandma were able to come from Topeka and Colorado, my family from Minnesota, my grandma, mom, mother-in-law, co-worker Karen and her daughter Mallorie were all able to attend. We had a great time guessing baby foods, eating delicious foods, and open gifts. Thank you to everyone who participated and those who couldn’t make it; you made it a special day!

Sunday my friends put together a shower made just for me  We went to a local Mexican restaurant where we ate queso, a delicious lunch, and tasty cupcakes! As part of the party theme everyone brought a children’s book instead of a card! They know me too well! The baby received such wonderful gifts, while I received wonderful attention! Thank you girls and to everyone who was there and sent love from afar!

100th post! .....fun happenings

In addition to enjoying the sun and warm weather I have done a few other fun things in the past weeks. A few of the girls went on a quilt hop...we went to 8 different fabric shops and received a sample of fabric, a pattern, and a chance to enter a grand prize drawing! It was a lot of fun!

My cousin Emily and her boyfriend stopped in for a visit while on a drive down the coast from Portland, Oregon. We spent the day at the Huntington Beach and may have indulged in a little too much sun! It was really good to see you two!

Jared and I also had a bowling night out with several other married couples who attend SCCO. It's sad, but I think my baby bump kept my arm from swinging to the side, allowing me to bowl much better than normal...even so...I still had the lowest score! Jared as always did well scoring the highest in our group.

With Jared busy at school we have had to find alternative ways to hang out and "get caught up"....so we have enjoyed several park outings where we exercise as a family(really it is me on a bike talking and trying hard to keep up with a running Jared and Elsie). To tire themselves out even more, Jared and Elsie run laps up and down this hill!

Cute Toes.

I cannot wait to put some cute toes in these adorable socks! Our friends Melissa and Brian are already showering baby awesome with gifts...how cute are those socks?! Thank you guys...we (including baby) love them!

Baby update:
I am 26 weeks along and baby boy is doing well. He is still moving up a storm....not sure if he ever rests! We had our latest doctors appointment today. "Awesome" is measuring right at 26 weeks and his heart rate is 150 bpm. I feel good expect for being tired...all....of....the...time. I haven't been sleeping well because my hips hurt when I sleep and any little noise (including Jared's breathing) wakes me up...I know...boohoo. I understand what people mean when they say "pregnancy starts to prepare you for the baby".

no whales

A couple of weeks ago Jared and I went whale watching....without the whales. It was a very foggy day, so sighting a whale was not possible. We did see sea lions and dolphins! The dolphins would swim next to the boat and were in large pods. Although we didn't see any whales, we had a good time and it was nice to pull Jared away from school for a while.

Bizarre

We went with a bunch of Jared's classmates to Medieval Times. We had dinner, ate with our hands (not my thing), and watched a medieval story unfold. Bizarre.

baby brain

Nothing new here...just been crafting up a storm! Jared was a sport and helped me pick out fabrics for the crib bumper...yes, I'm making it. I know the bumper will turn out cute, but I am still not sure about the colors! If you know me, you know how indecisive I am (Lord help us with naming our little guy). I know I like the blue, green, brown color scheme, but there are sooooo many shades of these colors. I worry our choice is too bright...I like it when I look at the fabrics, but then I see the same colors more neutral and really like those. I don't feel like I should settle because I have to live with these colors for a while. The colors are important to me because we are trying to decorate an all white boring apartment room....ahhhh! This is also the problem I am having with the stroller. If you remember from a previous post we have already purchased a stroller. I feel this stroller is larger than I want, but it's nice and it holds a car seat. I am also looking at a nice, sturdy, (hate to use this word) umbrella stroller. The umbrella stroller has a lot, but doesn't hold a car seat....so is it really a big pain to remove a sleeping baby from a car seat and place them in a stroller....do I NEED the stroller that holds the car seat?....ahhhhhh. Thanks for letting me vent.

Back to the fun stuff. Now that my nephew's 1st birthday gifts have been made and sent I am going to be focusing on making my little guy some things (too many to list). Here are a few pics of the things I made Solomon. 1. Magnetic cloth alphabet found here. 2. Stenciled shirts and bag holding alphabet found here 3. Me! 23 weeks! Baby is moving ALL the time, and seems to be doing well.
